Nick Kyrgios ‘loves’ Alexander Bublik underarm serves, but says ‘if it was me I would be accused of tanking’

Nick Kyrgios antics

Nick Kyrgios enjoyed seeing Alexander Bublik send down six underarm serves in one game at Wimbledon, but says he would have been criticised or punished if he was the one using the tactic during a match.

The underarm serve is not everyone’s cup of tea, but it has become popular among some players in the past few years and Kyrgios and Bublik have never been shy to use it.

Andy Murray even got in on the act during his Wimbledon first-round win over James Duckworth and dismissed suggestions after the match it was disrespectful to your opponent.

Bublik, though, sort of set a new target as he delivered six underarm serves in one game during his third-round defeat at the hands of Frances Tiafoe on Friday.

Kyrgios was entertained by the serves, but feels he would have been in the dog box if the shoe was on his foot.

“I love it, it’s different. But if it was me, I would be accused of tanking and get fined a minimum of 15 thousand pounds,” he wrote.
