2023 ATP Finals: The five players who have qualified for Turin as Andrey Rublev joins the party
Andrey Rublev has become the latest player to book his ticket to the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin, leaving only four places up for grabs for the showpiece event in Italy.
The 26-year-old Rublev secured his place in the ATP Finals line-up for a fourth consecutive year with a second-round win at the Vienna Open and he did so without fuss as he defeated Matteo Arnaldi 7-5, 6-3.
Although the permutations were clear before the match as all he needed to do was win the clash, qualification still came as a surprise to the Russian.
“It feels great. It’s great news,” he said. “After the match, I didn’t know that if I would win the match I would qualify for sure, so I didn’t know that and it’s a great feeling, great news.
“Looking forward [to it] and happy to be part of the Nitto ATP Finals for one more year.”
Rublev has had a brilliant season as he won his maiden ATP Masters 1000 title at the Monte-Carlo Masters while he also finished runner-up to Hubert Hurkacz at the Shanghai Masters.
He also won the Swedish Open and was a finalist in Dubai, Banja Luka and Halle. The Russian reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open.

Rublev currently sits at a career-high No 5 in the ATP Rankings.
Last year he reached the semi-final of the ATP Finals for the first time as he beat Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev in the group phase before losing against Casper Ruud in the last four.
He will join world No 1 and defending champion Novak Djokovic as well as Carlos Alcaraz, Medvedev and Jannik Sinner in the field.
