2023 ATP Tour: Every singles title winner so far from Novak Djokovic to Daniil Medvedev, prize-money leaders

The first quarter of the 2023 ATP Tour season is done and dusted and, believe it or not, 20 trophies have been handed out to players, although one was a team trophy.

The Australian Open was of course the biggest tournament to take place from January to March while the Sunshine Double – the Indian Wells Open and Miami Open – are the only two ATP Masters events to have been completed to so far this campaign.

Novak Djokovic won the Australian Open and Carlos Alcaraz then looked like he could run away with things, but Daniil Medvedev was the stand-out player in Q1 as he won the most titles as he lifted trophies in Rotterdam, Qatar, Dubai and Miami.

The 27-year-old Medvedev has also played in the most finals as he also finished runner-up at the Indian Wells Open while he also tops the prize-money list as he has already collected $3,273,307.

Djokovic and Alcaraz have each won two titles while the former has won $2,323,532 in prize money so far while Alcaraz has added to $1,912,800 to his bank accounts.

Every title winner so far in the 2023 ATP Tour season:

January

United Cup – United States

The United States team featured Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Denis Kudla and Hunter Reese on the ATP side with Jessica Pegula, Madison Keys, Alycia Parks and Desirae Krawczyk making up the WTA contingent.

The Americans beat the Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britain and Poland en route to reaching the final of the inaugural tournament.

In the showpiece match they defeated Italy 4-0 to lift the trophy.

Adelaide International 1 – Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic started his 2023 campaign where ended in 2022 as he followed up his ATP Finals title in November last year with the Adelaide International 1 trophy in January, defeating Sebastian Korda, 6–7 (8–10), 7–6 (7–3), 6–4 in the final.

Maharashtra Open – Tallon Griekspoor

Over in India, Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor won his maiden ATP Tour singles title as he defeated Benjamin Bonzi 4–6, 7–5, 6–3 in the ATP 250 tournament in Pune.

Adelaide International 2 – Kwon Soon-woo

Kwon Soon-woo made history in the second ATP 250 event in Adelaide as he became the first Korean to win multiple singles titles on the ATP Tour, defeating Spanish veteran Roberto Bautista Agut 6–4, 3–6, 7–6 (7–4).

Kwon was also the first lucky loser to win a title since Marco Cecchinato in Budapest in 2018.

Auckland Open – Richard Gasquet

Frenchman Richard Gasquet ended a nearly five-year title drought as he won his first trophy since June 2018 when he defeated Cameron Norrie 4–6, 6–4, 6–4 in the final warm-up event before the Australian Open.

It was Gasquet’s 16th ATP Tour singles title.

Interesting fact: All of Gasquet’s titles have been at ATP 250 (previously International) tournaments.

Australian Open – Novak Djokovic

After missing the 2022 Australian Open due to you know what, Novak Djokovic continued his love affair at Melbourne Park as he won his 10th Australian Open title and his 93rd career title.

The tennis great defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas 6–3, 7–6 (7–4), 7–6 (7–5) in the final and the title also saw him draw level with Rafael Nadal on 22 Grand Slams.

Cordoba Open – Sebastian Baez

The action moved to Latin America, the United States and Europe and Sebastian Baez won his second ATP Tour singles title when he beat fellow Argentine Federico Coria 6–1, 3–6, 6–3 in Cordoba.

Open Sud de France – Jannik Sinner

Italian Jannik Sinner won his seventh ATP Tour singles title when he defeated American Maxime Cressy 7–6 (7–3), 6–3 in the ATP 250 final in Montpellier.

Sinner became the first player to win a title in 2023 without dropping a set.

Dallas Open – Wu Yibing

Histroy was made in Texas Wu Yibing became the first Chinese man to not only reach an ATP Tour singles final in the Open Era, but also win a title. He also became the first Chinese man to beat a top-10 player as he beat world No 8 Taylor Fritz in the semi-finals.

The 23-year-old, who only made his Grand Slam debut at the US Open last year, saved four match points in the final as he beat American veteran John Isner 6–7 (4–7), 7–6 (7–3), 7–6 (14–12) to lift the trophy.

Rotterdam Open – Daniil Medvedev

Sinner made it back-to-back finals, but it was the start of Daniil Medvedev show in the Netherlands as the Russian won 5–7, 6–2, 6–2 to win his first trophy of the 2023 season, but his 16th title overall.

Argentina Open – Carlos Alcaraz

The ATP 250 event on the red clay in Buenos Aires marked the return of Carlos Alcaraz as he bounced back with a bang after missing the start of the year due to injury.

Playing in his first tournament since October last year, the 19-year-old returned to form as he defeated Cameron Norrie 6–3, 7–5 in the final to lift the seventh title of his young career.

Delray Beach Open – Taylor Fritz

The hard-court action continued in the United States and Taylor Fritz defeated Miomir Kecmanovic 6–0, 5–7, 6–2 to win his fifth ATP Tour singles title.

The title also saw Fritz climb to a career-high No 5 in the ATP Rankings.

Rio Open – Cameron Norrie

Alcaraz made it back-to-back finals on the clay in South America as he also reached the final in Brazil, but Norrie turned the tables on the Spaniard as the British No 1 secured a comeback 5–7, 6–4, 7–5 victory for his fifth singles title.

Interestingly, Norrie is yet to win a title on grass as three of his five titles have been on hard courts with the other two coming on clay.

Open 13 – Hubert Hurkacz

Over in Europe, Hubert Hurkacz won the sixth title of his career as Benjamin Bonzi’s wait for a maiden trophy continues with the Frenchman settling for his second runners-up trophy of the year.

The Pole won the match 6–3, 7–6 (7–4).

Qatar Open – Daniil Medvedev

The Daniil Medvedev show moved to the Middle East as the 2021 US Open winner brushed Andy Murray 6–4, 6–4 aside in the final for his second trophy in as many weeks and his 17th ATP singles title overall.

Murray, of course, was headline grabber during the tournament as he saved eight match points en route to reaching the final, but he was no match for the in-form Medvedev in the final.

Mexican Open – Alex de Minaur

Australian Alex de Minaur won his seventh ATP Tour singles title when he defeated Tommy Paul 3–6, 6–4, 6–1 in the ATP 500 Acapulco final.

It was De Minaur’s biggest title of his career as his previous five titles came at ATP 250 level.

Dubai Tennis Championships – Daniil Medvedev

Daniil Medvedev continued his brilliant February as he made it three titles in the month of February as he blew away fellow Russian Andrey Rublev 6–2, 6–2 in the final.

The former world No 1 defeated Novak Djokovic in the semi-final and he did not drop a set en route to lifting the trophy.

Chile Open – Nicolas Jarry

There was a home winner in Chile as Nicolas Jarry ended his four-year drought for a title by defeating first-time finalist Tomás Martín Etcheverry 6–7 (5–7), 7–6 (7–5) in the final in Santiago.

Indian Wells Open – Carlos Alcaraz

Teen sensation Carlos Alcaraz won his third ATP Masters 1000 title as he ended Daniil Medvedev’s 19-match winning streak by defeating the Russian 6–3, 6–2 in the final.

Alcaraz didn’t drop a set during the entire tournament the title run also helped him to surpass Novak Djokovic at No 1 in the ATP Rankings. Oh, he also collected a cheque of $1,262,220.

Miami Open – Daniil Medvedev

In a repeat of the Rotterdam Open final, Daniil Medvedev again got the better of Jannik Sinner – who beat Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-final – as he defeated the Italian 7–5, 6–3 to win his fourth title of the year and 19th career title.

Medvedev also added $1,262,220 to his bank account to move ahead of Novak Djokovic in the prize-money leaders list.
