ATP Rankings: Zverev reclaims No 2 spot from Alcaraz, Rune returns to top 10, Ruud & Tsitsipas slide

Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz have both closed the gap to Jannik Sinner, who has entered his 46th week at the top of the ATP Rankings.
Sinner has now tied Rafael Nadal for the fourth-longest maiden stint as world No 1, and he will surpass the Spanish icon when the rankings next update.
The 23-year-old Italian has not played since the Australian Open due to a three-month doping ban and he remains sidelined until May 7. Sinner has occupied top spot since June 2024.
Zverev, who slipped to third place last week after a brutal run of post-Australian Open form, has reclaimed the No 2 position at the first opportunity after winning his first title of 2025.
The German triumphed at the inaugural ATP 500 edition of the Munich Open on his 28th birthday — his third title at the clay-court tournament and first since 2018. Zverev is now 1,845 points adrift of Sinner on 8,085 points.
Having leapfrogged Zverev after his Monte Carlo Masters victory, Alcaraz has dropped back to world No 3 after losing to Holger Rune in the Barcelona Open final.
The 21-year-old Spaniard, who was chasing a third Barcelona crown, is just 35 points behind Zverev.
Rune, a former world No 4, has returned to the top 10 after winning the ATP 500 in Barcelona — his first title in two years. The 21-year-old Dane has jumped from 13th to ninth.
Ben Shelton has climbed from 15th to 13th after his runner-up result in Munich.
Taylor Fritz, Novak Djokovic and Jack Draper did not compete last week, and they remain in fourth, fifth and sixth position respectively.
Alex de Minaur and Andrey Rublev are still seventh and eighth, while Daniil Medvedev is down one place to 10th.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, a Barcelona runner-up last year, has dropped from 16th to 18th after being forced to retire in the last eight.
Fabian Marozsan has been rewarded with a 19-place jump to world No 58 for reaching the semi-finals in Munich, while Hamad Medjedovic is up 11 spots to a new career-high ranking of 61st for reaching the second round in Barcelona as a qualifier.
