The 2024 ATP Tour season has wrapped up and Jannik Sinner was the big winner as he not only finishes the year at No 1, but he will also take a massive lead into the new year as the chasing pack failed to keep up with him.

Sinner first rose to the top of the ATP Rankings after the French Open in June and he has spent the past 24 weeks at No 1. That stat is likely to surpass the 40-week mark in 2025 as he is assured of remaining top until at least March next year.

The 23-year-old – the first Italian to be ranked No 1 – won his eighth trophy of the year as he became the first Italian to win the ATP Finals, doing it on home soil in Turin, with a straight-set win over Taylor Fritz in the final.

He won the ATP Tour’s season-ending tournament undefeated and earned 1,500 points for his efforts to move to 11,830 – just shy of his best-ever tally of 11,920.

With second-placed Alexander Zverev losing in the semi-final, Sinner finishes the year with a 3,915-point lead while Carlos Alcaraz is down in third place.

Fritz enjoyed an incredible year as he finished runner-up to Sinner at the ATP Finals on Sunday following their US Open final rematch.

The 27-year-old’s reward is 800 points as well as a new career-high of No 4 as he became the first American man to finish in the top five since James Blake was at No 4 in 2006.

Former world No 1 Daniil Medvedev’s exit during the group stage in Turin saw him drop to No 5 while Casper Ruud’s run to the semi-final sees him move up one place to No 6.

The only other change in the top 10 sees Novak Djokovic drop one place following his decision not to compete at this year’s year-end tournament.

The 8 men to pass 10,000 ATP Ranking points as Jannik Sinner joins elite 11,000-point club: Novak Djokovic at No 1

The seven-time ATP Finals champion dropped 800 points last week as the defending champion and sits on 3,910 points at No 7 – his lowest position since November 14, 2022 when he was at No 8.

The 24-time Grand Slam winner started the year at No 1 with 11,245 points, but played only 10 tournaments during the campaign. He won only one title – gold at the 2024 Paris Games, but no points are awarded at the Olympics.

It is the first time since 2005 that Djokovic has failed to win an ATP Tour title during a season.

With no other action on the ATP Tour, the rest of the 20 remained the same.
