ATP Rankings: Jannik Sinner breaks 11,000-point milestone, Zverev usurps Alcaraz, Djokovic as Draper cracks top 20
Jannik Sinner has strengthened his grip on the year-end No 1 spot in the ATP Rankings thanks to his US Open title win while Jack Draper has reached a new career-high.
Italian Sinner captured his second Grand Slam of the 2024 season as he defeated Taylor Fritz in straight sets at Flushing Meadows.
A major win is worth 2,000 ranking points, but the 23-year-old added 1,820 points to his tally after the fortnight as he was defending 180 points from a fourth-round appearance at the US Open last year.
But his trophy run has helped him to open a 4,105-point lead at the top of the rankings as he breached the 11,180-point milestone. Sinner is only the sixth player in history to earn more than 11,000 ranking points with most of his points coming from his two Grand Slam titles and two ATP Masters 1000 titles.
Alexander Zverev – who reached the quarter-finals in New York – is Sinner’s closest challenger as he returned to No 2 with Carlos Alcaraz staying at No 3 while Novak Djokovic dropped two spots to No 4 after failing to defend his title.
Sinner will drop just over 2,180 points from now until the end of the year, Zverev 1,020 and Alcaraz 680 and Djokovic 2,300.
The other big change in the top 10 sees Fritz move up five places to No 7 – two spots below his career-best – after finishing runner-up to Sinner in the final.

Frances Tiafoe and Jack Draper were also big winners with the former climbing four places to No 16 after reaching the semi-final while Draper has reached the top 20 for the first time in his career. The Brit, who lost in the last four against Sinner, rose five places to No 20.
Others in the top 20 to reach new career highs are Jordan Thompson (29), Nuno Borges (30), Brandon Nakashimi (40), Alex Michelsen (47), Juncheng Shang (66), Alexander Muller (70), Zizou Bergs (72) and Aleksandar Kovacevic (73).
