ATP Rankings: Jannik Sinner draws level with another legend, Grigor Dimitrov gets a boost, Ben Shelton -6
Jannik Sinner is now tied for 17th for most weeks at No 1 in the world while there were minimal changes in the top 20 of the ATP Rankings.
The Italian first became world No 1 on June 10 and on Monday he started his 20th week at the top, drawing level with Mats Wilander from Sweden in 17th place on the all-time list for most weeks at No 1.
His next target is Carlos Alcaraz in 16th place and the Spaniard has a buffer as he sits on 36 weeks, but that will disappear as Sinner is assured of staying at No 1 for at least another 10 weeks as he has already secured the 2024 year-end No 1 ranking.
The pair currently occupy the top two positions in the rankings and with neither in action last week, Sinner remains 4,800 points ahead of Alcaraz while Alexander Zverev, Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev complete the top five.
The only change in the top 10 sees Grigor Dimitrov move up one spot to No 9 after his runners-up finish at the Stockholm Open while the man who beat him in the final, Tommy Paul, also gets a one-place jump to No 12.
Felix Auger-Aliassime returns to the top 20 as he slots in at No 19 while Ben Shelton has slipped six places to No 23 after dropping 490 points. It is the first time since August last year that the American has dropped out of the top 20.
Roberto Bautista Agut was one of three title winners on the ATP Tour on Sunday as he lifted the European Open trophy in Antwerp – his ninth singles title and first since July 2022 – and he returns to the top 50 for the first time since October last year as he jumped 15 places to No 45.
Gael Monfils, meanwhile, drops out of the top 50 as he slipped 11 places to No 52.
