ATP Rankings: Novak Djokovic stays top, Frances Tiafoe makes top 10 debut, Andy Murray on the move

Novak Djokovic started his 389th week as world No 1 on Monday, but the big winners over the past week were Frances Tiafoe, Tallon Griekspoor and Andy Murray.

With 23-time Grand Slam winner Djokovic and world No 2 Carlos Alcaraz traditionally skipping the first week of the grass-court season following their French Open exertions, there was no change at the top of the ATP Rankings.

The Serbian still leads the way with 7,595 points – a handy 420-point lead over Alcaraz, who could regain top spot if he wins the Queen’s Club Championships this week.

Back to the current rankings and the only change to the top 10 sees Tiafoe make his debut in said top 10 following his title run at the Stuttgart Open.

The American saved a match point to defeat Jan-Lennard Struff 4-6, 7-6 (7-1), 7-6 (10-8) in the final on Sunday and besides picking up his third ATP Tour singles trophy he also moved up two places in the rankings after adding 250 points to his tally.

With Taylor Fritz at No 8, it means there are now two Americans in the top 10 for the first time since May 2012 when Mardy Fish and John Isner were ranked ninth and tenth, respectively.

Struff, meanwhile, himself moved up three places following his runners-up finish, but he came up just short of cracking the top 20 for the first time as the German sits in position No 21.

Griekspoor is up to a career-high No 29 after moving up nine places following his victory over Jordan Thompson in the Libema Open final.

Meanwhile further down the rankings and away from ATP Tour action, Murray won his second consecutive ATP Challenger Tour title as the three-time Grand Slam winner defeated Arthur Cazaux in the Nottingham Open final to take his unbeaten run to 10 matches.

As a result, he is back in the top 40 of the ATP Rankings for the first time in five years as he moved up six places to No 38. A couple of wins at the Queen’s Club Championships will see him seeded for Wimbledon.
