ATP Rankings: Novak Djokovic has one hand on year-end No 1 ranking and sensational 400-week milestone
Novak Djokovic has the year-end No 1 ATP Ranking within his grasp following his latest Paris Masters title while he also has the 400-week milestone all but secured.
On the back of brushing aside Grigor Dimitrov in the ATP Masters 1000 final on Sunday, the 24-time Grand Slam winner finds himself on 9,945 points in the Race To Turin’s 52-week rolling calendar – a healthy 1,490-point advantage over Carlos Alcaraz.
With a maximum of 1,500 points available to an undefeated winner at the ATP Finals, it means Djokovic can secure the year-end No 1 ranking with a single win at the end-of-season tournament in Turin.
If Alcaraz wins the title undefeated, he would end up with 9,955 points but Djokovic would finish top with just one win as each victory at the ATP Finals earns a player 200 points.
As for the official ATP Rankings, Djokovic started his 398th week at No 1 on Monday after picking up another 1,000 points. The Serbian sits on 11,445 points – 2,990 points clear of Alcaraz in second place.
Although the Serbian will drop 1,500 points next week after winning the ATP Finals undefeated last year while Alcaraz will drop no points, much like with the year-end rankings, all he needs to do to reach 400 weeks at No 1 is secure one win in Turin.
Roger Federer is a distant second for most weeks spent at No 1 in the ATP Rankings as he is on 310 weeks while Steffi Graf is second in the overall list with 37 weeks.
The ATP Finals will run from November 13 to 19 so Djokovic will be on 399 weeks by the time the tournament starts.

Djokovic and Alcaraz are followed by Daniil Medvedev, Jannik Sinner, Andrey Rublev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud, Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz and Holger Rune in the top 10 of the ATP Rankings.
There was only one change in the top 10 as Rune dropped three places to 10th after failing to defend his Paris Masters title.
Rublev was also a winner as he picked up 270 points for his run to the semi-final in Paris-Bercy to sit on 5,205 points – just 285 points behind fourth-placed Jannik Sinner.
Dimitrov was the biggest mover between 10 and 20 as the Bulgarian climbed three places to No 14 – his best position since October 2018 – after finishing runner-up at the Paris Masters.
It was a difficult week for the British contingent with Cameron Norrie and Dan Evans missing the Paris event with the former remaining at No 18 in the rankings and Evan dropping one place to No 38.
Andy Murray dropped two places to No 42 after losing in the first round while Jack Draper climbed nine places to No 82 after winning the Challenger Tour event in Bergamo.
