ATP Rankings: Novak Djokovic one week away from equalling Steffi Graf’s record, big jump for Wu Yibing
Novak Djokovic’s stay at the top of the ATP Rankings saw him move within touching distance of Steffi Graf’s record while Taylor Fritz reached a new career high and Wu Yibing enjoyed an incredible jump.
Djokovic returned to No 1 in the world on January 30 on the back of winning a 10th Australian Open title and a 22nd Grand Slam with victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas at Melbourne Park.
The Serbian started his 376th week at the top on Monday February 13th and he is now just one week shy of drawing level with 22-time major champion Graf on 377 weeks – which is the all-time combined ATP and WTA record.
Djokovic, currently in his seventh stint as world No 1, already holds the record for most weeks spent at No 1 in the ATP Rankings as he is well clear of Roger Federer’s 310 weeks.
And he is on course to set a new all-time record on February 27.
The top 10 in the ATP Rankings remain largely unchanged with Djokovic leading Carlos Alcaraz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev, Rafael Nadal, Taylor Fritz, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Holger Rune and Hubert Hurkacz.
Fritz was the only player to rise in the top 10 as he is up to a new career-high of No 7 after reaching the semi-final of the Dallas Open.
The American No 1 was beaten in straight sets by Wu and the Chinese star went on to win the title, defeating the big-serving John Isner in three sets to become the first man from the Asian country to win an ATP Tour singles title.
The 23-year-old Wu started last week at No 97 at the ATP Rankings, but he surged up 39 places to a career-best No 58. He is now not only the first Chinese man to win a singles title, but also the highest-ranked Chinese player in ATP Rankings history.
Back to the top 20 and Jannik Sinner is back up to No 14 after the Italian defeated Maxime Cressy to win the Open Sud de France while Alexander Zverev has dropped to No 17 after he failed to defend the points he won from reaching Montpellier final last year.
Cameron Norrie remains the highest-ranked British man at No 12 with Daniel Evans at No 29, Jack Draper at No 38 and Andy Murray at No 70.
