ATP Rankings: Novak Djokovic’s slide continues, Denis Shapovalov +22, Benjamin Bonzi +46
Jannik Sinner has started his 23rd week at No 1 in the ATP Rankings while there were a couple of changes in the top 10 with Novak Djokovic dropping another place.
The points drop from the 2023 ATP Finals has now kicked in and Sinner lost 1,000 from the previous edition and now sits on 10,330 points, but he will no doubt make some points up at this week’s season-ending tournament in Turin.
The Italian – who has now been top of the rankings for 23 consecutive weeks – has a 3,015-point lead over Alexander Zverev with Carlos Alcaraz another 505 points adrift in third place.
Sinner is assured of staying at the top of the ATP Rankings until at least after next year’s Australian Open where he is the defending champion.
The top three are followed by Daniil Medvedev and Taylor Fritz with the latter moving up one spot after Djokovic dropped 1,300 points from last year’s ATP Finals title run.
Sixth place is Djokovic’s lowest position since November 2022 when he was at No 8 and he could slip to as low as No 9 as the likes of Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev and Alex de Minaur can surpass him with decent runs in Turin.
There were only a couple of changes outside the top 10 with Stefanos Tsitsipas and Tommy Paul moving up one spot each after Holger Rune dropped two places to No 13.
Instead, the big shakers came outside the top 50 with Denis Shapovalov and Benjamin Bonzi taking home trophies over the weekend.
Former world No 10 Shapovalov won his second ATP singles title when he defeated Hamad Medjedovic in the Belgrade Open final and he is rewarded with a 22-place jump to No 56. Medjedovic, who appeared in his first top-level final, surges 44 places to No 112.

Bonzi won his maiden trophy at the Moselle Open when he beat Cameron Norrie and the Frenchman climbs 46 spots to No 78 while Norrie is up seven places to No 50.
Meanwhile, Kei Nishikori – who peaked at No 4 in 2015 – returned to title-winning ways on the ATP Challenger Tour as he won his eighth trophy at that level, beating Luca Nardi in three sets in the final.
The Japanese player is up 25 places to No 107.
