Carlos Alcaraz stars as ATP 2024 Awards nominations are confirmed
The nominees for the 2024 ATP Tour awards have been announced – with Carlos Alcaraz among those potentially in line to receive recognition.
There will be five awards handed out, with four voted for by ATP players, while the Coach of the Year award will be voted for by fellow coaches.
World No 3 Alcaraz was selected as the winner of the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award in 2023, and the Spaniard has again been nominated for the prestigious honour.
Also nominated for the award is world No 6 Casper Ruud, also a previous winner – having been voted for by his peers in 2022.
Joining Ruud and Alcaraz on the shortlist for the award, named in honour of former world No 1 Edberg, are Grigor Dimitrov and the now-retired Dominic Thiem.
Elsewhere, three former Grand Slam finalists have been shortlisted for the Comeback Player of the Year Award.
Former US Open champion Marin Cilic has been recognised after becoming the lowest-ranked ATP player in history to win a tour title at the Hangzhou Open.
Also nominated is Matteo Berrettini, who starred for Italy in the Davis Cup and won three ATP titles, and Kei Nishikori, who returned to the top 150 of the ATP Rankings.
There are four nominees for the Most Improved Player of the Year award, led by US Open semi-finalist Jack Draper.
Alongside his Flushing Meadows run, the Brit cracked the top 15 of the ATP Rankings and won the first two ATP titles of his career in Stuttgart and Vienna.

Czech star Mensik cracked the top 50 and reached his first ATP final in Doha, while Shang ended 2024 as the world No 50 after winning the first title of his career in Chengdu.
The final award is the Coach of the Year Award, which sees the mentors of five ATP players recognised.
