Casper Ruud news: Miami Open final and The Masters – it’s going to be quite a week for the Norwegian

Casper Ruud has made it through to his first Masters 1000 final where he will face Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz, who is also heading into his maiden ATP 1000 final – but that’s not the only thing on the Norwegian player’s mind.
One of the four majors in golf gets underway next week in Augusta, Georgia – The Masters – and Ruud is already getting excited for the competition, despite playing in the final of a tournament himself.
But the 23-year-old isn’t shy of revealing his love for the game, he even has his own Instagram account dedicated to his passion for golf.
“I have always watched The Masters in golf and obviously it’s coming up next week and I can’t wait for it to watch on TV again,” the world No 8 explained.
“It’s fun because I will probably be here in the country while it’s ongoing, in Houston next week at the tournament.
“I enjoy watching both sports (tennis and golf) and I try to watch a lot of golf especially here in the States, you have your own golf channel so it’s easy to watch the tournaments – it’s building up to be I think hopefully a good Masters next week.”
Ruud doesn’t just watch golf, but he also plays some as well when he isn’t on court and has even played with 21 time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal, who he reveals does not mess about on the course.
“He’s a very, very tough competitor, honestly a bit tough to play with because he doesn’t say much because he’s so focussed,” the highest ranked Norwegian player in history revealed.
“Usually on the golf course you are laughing a little bit and joking around.
“With him, it’s no jokes.”
Ruud will face Alcaraz in the final of the Miami Open on Sunday, while Nadal is still taking a break from tennis while he recovers from a rib injury he picked up at the Indian Wells Masters.
