British No 2 Dan Evans will have the honour of anchoring the draw for the ATP 250 Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakech.

Evans is the second seed for the 37th edition of the event held in Morocco.

Alongside the other top four seeds, Evans will enjoy a bye into the second round of competition.

Evans is set to take on either Australian Alexei Popyrin or local wildcard Younes Lalami Laaroussi in his first match of the tournament, which will come at the last 16 stage.

The Brit has endured a rocky start to the season so far and is currently on a five-match losing streak.

His last win came back at the Australian Open when he defeated Jeremy Chardy of France in the Round of 64.

Including his efforts at the United Cup, Evans is 3-8 in singles matches this season.

The first seed that Evans could possibly meet is Santiago titlist Nicholas Jarry at the quarter-final stage.

There are no former champions in the field this season so the Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakech will crown a new champion this season.

Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti is the top seed for this event with the 21-year-old out to improve on his recent poor form as well.

Musetti is 5-6 in singles matches in 2023 with his only back-to-back wins coming during the United Cup team event after he has won titles at events in Hamburg and Naples in 2022.

He could face sixth seed Richard Gasquet in his second match provided the Frenchman can also notch two wins to reach the last eight.

Leading Dutch players complete the top four seeds for the Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakech with Botic van de Zandschulp seeded third and Tallon Griekspoor fourth.

Van de Zandschulp will take on either a qualifier of Australian Christopher O’Connell in his first match of the campaign. Meanwhile a potential last eight meeting with Benjamin Bonzi of France lies in prospect.

Griekspoor already has a title to his name this season after snatching the Pune crown in his first outing.

He starts his tournament in Marrakech against either local wildcard Adam Moundir or a qualifier.

Griekspoor might have to account for in-form American Maxime Cressy in just his second match of the tournament.

Cressy faces Spain’s Roberto Carballes Baena in his opening round assignment and could be up against Federico Coria or a qualifier after that if he can get the win.
