Fabio Fognini sets up Fernando Verdasco showdown in Bastad

Fabio Fognini and Fernando Verdasco will meet in the semi-finals of the Swedish Open.
Third seed Fognini, the highest-ranked player left in the draw, produced a solid display to beat Federico Delbonis 6-4, 6-3 in one hour and 21 minutes.
Fifth seed and two-time Swedish Open finalist Verdasco beat fellow Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta 6-2, 6-2 to reach the last four.
“I think I played my best match so far in Bastad,” Verdasco said after the match. “I knew it was going to be a really difficult match, as Pablo beat me in Miami this year and also in Basel a couple of years ago.”
Fourth seed Richard Gasquet also reached the semi-finals as he beat Norwegian wild card Casper Ruud 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 in one hour and 36 minutes.
Henri Laaksonen stands between the Frenchman Gasquet and place in the final after the Swiss lucky loser came from a set down to beat Italian Simone Bolelli 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.
