Gael Monfils through in Argentina but Pablo Carreno Busta crashes out

Frenchman Gael Monfils defeated Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic 6-4 6-3 to set up a quarter-final match against home favourite Leonardo Mayer in Buenos Aires.
Argentinian Mayer overcame fourth seed Fabio Fognini 6-3 6-3 to delight the home crowd and will now fancy his chances with the home advantage.
However, number two seed Pablo Carreno Busta, of Spain, crashed out of the competition after being beaten 7-6 (7/5) 1-6 7-6 (8/6) by compatriot Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
Dominic Thiem is already into the quarter finals, as is perhaps Argentina’s best hope, Diego Schwartzman, who’ll now face Aljaz Bedene.
