‘He knows he can still beat Novak Djokovic’ – Roger Federer backed to win another Grand Slam

Martina Hingis has backed compatriot Roger Federer to win another Grand Slam in 2020, although she knows this year’s Wimbledon final will take some getting over.
Federer hasn’t won a Grand Slam since January 2018, when he claimed his 20th major crown at the Australian Open.
He had two match points to make it 21 this summer in the Wimbledon final against Djokovic, but ended up losing in what many believe to be the greatest final of all time.
Hingis, though, says it would be cray to write Federer off as a force just yet.
“It’s been two years,” Hingis told Metro. “I mean last year, Jesus Christ.
“He must still think about it (the 2019 Wimbledon final) sometimes, I would. Probably.”
Federer proved he is still very much a force against his biggest rivals b dismantling Djokovic at the ATP Finals last month, and Hingis believes that was important.
“He’s had his revenge kind of now, he still sort of knows he can maybe beat him (Djokovic).
“Sometimes that mentally helps. But I think he’s still one of the favourites, especially at Wimbledon I would say.
“He played so well those last three games until 40-15 up on serve. He hit three winners on his serve and the fourth one just didn’t come.

“Novak is just not going to go away, right? Maybe somebody else under pressure would miss that cross-court winner passing shot but he didn’t. So I don’t know.
“Sometimes it’s just brutal. Tennis as a sport can be very mean and brutal.”
