John Isner: ‘Tennis might be one of the last sports to get going again’

John Isner fears that it could be a while before tennis returns after the enforced break due to the international nature of the sport.
There will be no tennis before July 13 after the ATP and WTA Tours jointly decided to suspend all action due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, with many tennis players having to travel from all over the globe to different countries every week for different tournaments, Isner feels it will make it difficult for organisers to get the timing spot on.
“It’s definitely different for tennis than for a lot of other sports. This is just my opinion, and I hope I am wrong, but I feel like tennis might be one of the last sports to get going again just because it’s international,” he told ESPN.
“It’s a tough spot for whoever is hosting whatever the first tournament is, whenever things get back under control. Countries and cities might have different rules and regulations about who can enter or compete. It’s a big question mark for tennis right now, no doubt. It’s a big question mark for tennis right now, because our competitors are scattered all over the world.”
