Juan Martin del Potro closes in on ‘Mexican Double’ as Cameron Norrie loses

Juan Martin del Potro celebrates

Juan Martin del Potro is one win away from winning his second title in Mexico this year.

The top-seed Del Potro, who also won the Mexican Open at the start of March, reached the final of the Los Cabos Open with a 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) victory over third seed Damir Dzumhur.

“It was a good fight from him. We played good tennis, especially in the second set,” Del Potro told ATPWorldTour.com. “I made some mistakes in the end of the set, but then I played a smart game in the tie-break. I took my chances to win and I’m glad to reach another final this season.”

The Argentine will face Fabio Fognini for the title after the second-seeded Italian beat Cameron Norrie 6-4, 6-2.

“I’m really happy, for sure. I played really good tennis today. I was really solid from the baseline,” Fognini said.

“I’m happy to be in the final here in Los Cabos. This is my first time here, so it’s not going to be the last time.”
