‘I am really happy proud of myself,’ says Lorenzo Musetti after saving four match points against Dan Evans
Teenager Lorenzo Musetti, progressed to the quarter-finals of the Sardegna Open after beating Britain’s Dan Evans.
The Italian won 6-1, 1-6, 7-6(10-8) in just over two hours – saving four match points in the final set.
Top seed Evans led 6-3 in the final set-tie break before the 19-year-old fought back to progress to the last eight.
“It was really tough. I was 3-6 down in the tie-break and he was playing good, always going to the net and always aggressive,” the world No 90 told the ATP Tour website.
“I tried to stay calm and tried to play each point. That is what I did and it worked, so I am really happy and really proud of myself with this win.”

Musetti has won 12 matches on the ATP Tour with seven of those coming against top 35 players.
He said: “The secret for me is not to think about (their Top 35 Ranking), to just play them like other opponents.
“I try to play my game… and try to play as good as I can. That is what I did. With them, I always play good. I don’t know why. I have no pressure and I feel free. I have no pressure to win and today was the same.”
The Italian will play Laslo Djere in the quarter-finals after the Serbian beat John Millman in straight sets.
