Novak Djokovic roars

Novak Djokovic endured few real problems against Tenny Sandgren as he moved into the US Open third round.

The Serb sixth seed looked relaxed throughout as he stylishly carved out a 6-1 6-3 6-7 6-2 win in just under three hours.

Marin Cilic, meanwhile, was is absolutely commanding form against Hubert Hurkacz.

The Croatian has endured a tough year since starting it so brilliantly at the Australian Open, but he decimiated his Polish foe 6-2 6-0 6-0.

He’ll now face Australian Alex de Minaur, who overcame young American Frances Tiafoe 6-4 6-0 5-7 6-2.

David Goffin advanced too, beating Robin Haase 6-2 6-7 6-3 6-2, but there was further frustration for Gael Monfils, who was forced to retire against Kei Nishikori with a wrist injury.
