Novak Djokovic on his ‘passionate’ father’s controversial opinions: ‘I can’t always agree with everything he says’

Novak Djokovic admits he doesn’t always agree with his father’s contentious interviews, however he insists Djokovic senior does everything with “the purest and best intentions”.
Srdjan Djokovic has never shied away from waxing lyrical about his son or taking swipes at his rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal while he has also had several digs at the media.
In his latest verbal attack, Srdjan described Federer as “a great champion” before adding that “he is not as good a man”.
Novak Djokovic’s father takes fresh swipe at Roger Federer, saying Swiss great is ‘not a good man’
World No 1 Djokovic was asked about his father’s controversial interviews at the Monte-Carlo Masters and replied: “I love my father. My father is greatest support that I had, especially in the early days. “But obviously I can’t affect what he says. I mean, it is what it is (smiling).
“Everyone thinks with their own head. I mean, I have to accept it and respect it. My father is a very, very passionate man. He protects me and he loves me. I know that he does it with the purest and best intentions.
“Maybe we all say or do things that maybe some other people get offended by that or something like that. I understand that.
“I mean, look, I still stand by my father and whatever he’s doing. We are family. Of course, I’m going to stay on his side and protect him. I can’t always agree with everything he says.”
