Rod Laver: I think Roger Federer is the best player in the world
Praise certainly doesn’t come any higher than Rod Laver saying he doesn’t think his is career “matches up with anything that Roger Federer has accomplished”.
Australian Laver was considered the greatest tennis player of all time for a long period as he dominated the sport in the 1960s, winning 11 Grand Slam titles, including two calendar-year Grand Slams.
However, many believe one of Federer and Rafael Nadal will eventually go down as the greatest as the Swiss has won a record 20 Grand Slams while Nadal is on 17. Novak Djokovic, though, has also been added to the equation after he won Wimbledon and the US Open to move to 14 majors.

Laver was asked by TENNIS.com’s Inside the Tour podcast who he thought was the greatest and he replied: “My thought is Roger Federer is the best player in the world.
“Yes, I’ve had a good career but I don’t think it matches up with anything that Roger has accomplished.”
