Roger Federer to make a return to clay-court action in 2019?

Roger Federer’s clay-court days might not be over after all with the 20-time Grand Slam winner saying “it’s not off the table”.
The former French Open winner hasn’t played on clay since the 2016 season as he opted to skip the red-dirt tournaments the last two years to preserve energy for the grass-court and hard-court seasons.
Federer, though, has revealed that he could make a return next year.
“The clay-court season is under review,” he is quoted as saying by Reuters. “It’s not off the table. I will know by the end of the year.”
He added: “I would like to make up my mind ahead of time so I can plan my build-up, my fitness schedule, even the way I would approach my December practice sessions. It could benefit the clay-court season.”
“This is something that is obviously a big deal. If you play the clay, it changes everything.”
The 37-year-old admits if he does play clay-court season then it will have a major impact on his scheduling as a whole.
“This is something that is obviously a big deal. If you play the clay, it changes everything,” he said.
