Novak Djokovic finds himself in the same quarter as Stefanos Tsitipas at the Shanghai Masters while Roger Federer could face Marin Cilic in the second round with Alexander Zverev a possible quarter-final opponent.

World No 1 and defending champion Djokovic will kick off his campaign against either Frances Tiafoe or Denis Shapovalov in the second round with sixth seed Tsitsipas is the other danger man in section one.

Should the 16-time Grand Slam winner come through the quarters then he could meet the in-form Daniil Medvedev in the semi-finals.

US Open runner-up Medvedev will face either Gilles Simon or a qualifier in his opening clash.

His fellow Russian Karen Khachanov is also in the quarter and he could face Andy Murray in the third round.

The seventh seeded Khachanov will face either Fernando Verdasco or Taylor Fritz in the second round while wildcard Murray is up against a qualifier.

In the bottom half, Federer has a challenging draw as he will face either Cilic or Albert Ramos Vinolas while Zverev could await him in the last 16.

Zverev will face either British No 1 Kyle Edmund or a qualifier in his opening clash.
