What’s in the news
The Lawn Tennis Association is determined to invigorate British tennis and Telegraph Sport reports they have named one university in Loughborough and one in Stirling as National Academies with “each providing coaching and support for around 16 players between the ages of 13 to 18”.

Sportsmail reported earlier this week that Dan Evans is “still waiting for the wild-cards” from the LTA following his successful comeback from his doping ban.

And he is back in the news as today Sportsmail goes with “Dan Evans holds hope of a Wimbledon wildcard but admits Davis Cup teammates have given him the cold shoulder after drugs ban”.

Straight to the quotes we go.

“Everybody at the tournaments have been fine. I have not spoken to Andy [Murray]. I have seen Kyle [Edmund] once. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I think it was just down as a mistake and hopefully we can move on.”

Express Sports says Rafael Nadal has fired a “dig at Barcelona defender Gerard Pique”, saying the centreback “always likes to be in the centre of the Catalan independence debate”.
