Rafael Nadal has won an ATP Tour singles title for 19 consecutive seasons, but his streak is about to end and Novak Djokovic looks set to draw level with him in a couple of months.

Tennis great Nadal has won at least one title every year from the beginning of the 2004 season until the end of the 2022 season, but he won’t be adding to that tally this year as he is currently out injured.

The 22-time Grand Slam winner has played only four matches this year and he won’t return to action before the 2024 season as he is still nursing his way back to full fitness following hip surgery in May.

It means Nadal’s “Consecutive Seasons With At Least One Title” streak will officially end on 19 at the conclusion of the regular ATP Tour season on November 12.

The Spaniard won his maiden trophy at the Orange Prokom Open in Poland in August 2004 and for the next 18 years he won a title every single year.

He won his 92nd and final title in June last year when he lifted his 14th French Open trophy.

Rafael Nadal’s titles per season

2004 – 1
2005 – 11
2006 – 5
2007 – 6
2008 – 8
2009 – 5
2010 – 7
2011 – 3
2012 – 4
2013 – 10
2014 – 4
2015 – 3
2016 – 2
2017 – 6
2018 – 5
2019 – 4
2020 – 2
2021 – 2
2022 – 4

There is no doubt that Nadal could still add more titles to the collection when he returns to action in 2024, but his trophy tally for 2023 reads zero.

Djokovic is on course to draw level with Nadal on 19 Consecutive Seasons With At Least One Title next year as he is currently on 18.

The 24-time Grand Slam winner started his streak in June 2006 when he won his first-ever title at the Dutch Open and he is still going strong as he has already won five titles so far this year.

If he stays fit and opts to continue playing for another couple of years, then Djokovic is set to break Nadal’s record in 2025.

Before Nadal, Roger Federer topped the ranking for Consecutive Seasons With At Least One Title as he won a title every year for 15 years in a row from 2001 until 2015 while Ivan Lendl held the mark before him.

In terms of other active players on a streak, Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas are both on six consecutive seasons with their runs starting in 2018. Andrey Rublev has won a title every year since 2019 while Casper Ruud and Jannik Sinner are on four years with Carlos Alcaraz on three years.
