The bare stats don’t always tell the full picture, but the ATP Tour’s Serve Rating system gives us solid pointers towards the players whose delivery has the most significant impact on matches.

The ATP Tour uses four service metrics percentages plus the average number of aces per match and subtracts the average number of double faults per match to determine a player’s Serve Rating.

Here we look at the top five players on the ATP Tour according to their Serve Rating.

5 Nicolas Jarry – 290.1

Nicolas Jarry has used his potent serve to drive him to a new career-high this season and a pair of titles.

Jarry is a tall powerful player but it is his accuracy on the first serve that is one of his most impressive attributes.

He has landed over 65% of his first serves across the 2023 season and he has also won more than 75% of those first serve points.

Jarry won titles at Geneva and Santiago this season.

4 Christopher Eubanks – 290.3

Christopher Eubanks has a higher double fault rate than any other man in the top five sending down an average of 3.1 per match.

However, he makes up for that by hitting a little more than 12 aces per match.

Eubanks has a reasonably accurate serve and most of his double faults are down to him trying to take risks.

The American won his maiden ATP Tour title on the grass of Mallorca this season.

3 Stefanos Tsitsipas – 292.4

Stefanos Tsitsipas has a lot of power in his serve but he also combines this wih a lot of guile and variation.

Tsitsipas’ serve is an under-rated weapon in his arsenal with the Greek’s slices and shot-making drawing the eye.

Heading into the Paris Masters no player had won a higher percentage of their service games on the ATP Tour.

Tsitsipas was a titlist in Los Cabos this season and also lost big finals at the Australian Open and in Barcelona.

2 Novak Djokovic 292.7

Novak Djokovic is known for his return game but he also possesses a great delivery which probably doesn’t get talked about enough.

Djokovic is known for his kicker serve and uses a version of the continental grip that allows him to create the spin more easily.

The stats show that Djokovic has one of the best allround serves in tennis right now even if he isn’t known for delivering raw power.

Djokovic has had an incredible season and his service numbers are a testament to the quality he has delivered.

1 Hubert Hurkacz – 295.2

The Shanghai Masters champion Hubert Hurkacz has one of the most feared serves on the ATP Tour and with good reason according to the numbers.

Hurkacz has blasted 15.2 aces per match across the 2023 and also rarely double faults.

The Pole has been in great late season form and could snatch a place in the ATP Finals if he continues to serve with authority.

Hurkacz won in Marseille in February and would add a second title for the 2023 in Shanghai.
