Top seed Diego Schwartzman sent packing in Bastad

Diego Schwartzman’s Swedish Open campaign came to a shuddering halt in the first round on Wednesday.
The top seed from Argentina crashed to a 7-6 (10-8), 6-3 defeat to Italian qualifier Simone Bolelli.
Both players struggled on their serves as there were four breaks of serve in the first set and three in the second with Bolelli just edging it.
Next up for Bolelli is Henri Laaksonen, who claimed a straightforward 6-2, 6-2 victory over Matteo Berrettini.
Fifth seed Fernando Verdasco cruised into the quarter-final with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Pedro Sousa from Portugal and it will be an all-Spanish affair as he will face his compatriot Pablo Carreno Busta, who beat Thiago Monteiro 6-4, 6-3.
