WATCH: Jannik Sinner getting ‘so much energy’ from Turin crowd
Jannik Sinner thrilled his home crowd in Turin as he took down former ATP Finals champion Daniil Medvedev in the semi-finals of the season-ending extravaganza.
Sinner held off a spirited Medvedev fightback to emphatically claim the decisive set and a place in the final, where he will face either Carlos Alcaraz or Novak Djokovic in the biggest match of his life.
Understandably, Sinner wasn’t able to to adequately put into words what the win meant to him while out on court.
Sinner was cool under pressure throughout the match, even during the hotly contested second set, which he lost in a tiebreak before clinching the 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-1 win.
Having won the last two matches against Medvedev, Sinner noted that the Russian changed things up and was far more aggressive than usual.
The Italian was able to solve the problems posed by Medvedev and goes into Sunday’s final riding high.

“[It is an] incredible feeling,” said the 22-year-old Sinner.
“It was a really tough match today. I felt that he was playing more aggressively, especially in the first set. Somehow I made the break and from that point I felt better. The second set was really tight but then he played a very good tie-break. In the third set I just tried to stay a bit more aggressive and mixing up my game a little bit. I am happy to be in the final.”
It gets louder and louder with each @janniksin victory🗣

Sinner is now 3-6 in their ATP career head-to-head series, having defeated his foe in both Beijing and Vienna in October. Sinner’s victory over Medvedev is part of a larger run of strong form for Sinner, who is 17-2 since the US Open.
He had the goal of reaching the Finals in Turin and having got there has now exceeded expectations.
There is little doubt that the home crowd will continue to support their man no matter who he faces in Sunday’s final.
Sinner paraphrased the old maxim of Billie Jean King, saying that playing in front of his home crowd was a privilege not a pressure.
He feels that the crowd have given him energy and has enjoyed the fast indoor hard court in Turin.
“It is a privilege to have this kind of pressure,” said Sinner, when asked about his home support.
“Even the week before this event I felt really good on this court. It is quite fast. The crowd has given me so much energy.”
