Daniil Medvedev news: Aslan Karatsev on why world No 2 should not have lost his cool over fans in final

Aslan Karatsev believes world No 2 Daniil Medvedev had no right to complain about fans opting to support Rafael Nadal during the Australian Open final on Sunday.
Nadal became a 21st-time Grand Slam champion after beating Medvedev 2-6, 6-7, (5-7), 6-4, 6-4, 7-5 at Melbourne Park.
Although the Russian was frustrated with the crowd during the match, he later praised Nadal’s strength.
World No 15 Karatsev – who made it to the third round Down Under before losing out to Adrian Mannarino of France 7-6, (7-4), 6-7, (4-7), 7-5, 6-4, on Margaret Court Arena – believes his compatriot should just take it on the chin as fans were always going to back Nadal.
“I think for me it’s pretty normal (fans supporting Nadal), Nadal has just made his comeback and didn’t play for almost half a year, of course, fans will support him,” said Karatsev as quoted by Zee News.
“He’s coming back from injury and the same thing happens if you play against Roger (Federer)… so yeah I know it can be disturbing when fans try to distract you while serving and all, but I think sooner or later Daniil will realise that and move on.”
Karatsev added: “The same thing happened with me (not getting supported or being booed from the crowd) but you cannot do anything like telling the fans ‘c’mon you support me, that would not make sense.”
