Major tennis is back in 2025 when the Australian Open begins in Melbourne.

The first of the four majors of the year begins on Sunday 12 January at 11am local time and night sessions will take place at 7pm local time at Melbourne Park. The women’s final will take place on Saturday 25 January, followed by the men’s final the following day.

The time difference means matches will begin at midnight on UK TV, with show court matches beginning at 1am. Night session games will begin at 8am.

Fans who want to watch the matches from the UK can do so via Eurosport, which is available to UK viewers on TNT Sports. You can buy a TNT Sport pass and watch every match of the tournament for a one-off payment of £30.99.

Fans with Amazon Prime can watch it through their account here.

Before the first match, the draw will take place to set the brackets for the men’s and women’s singles tournaments on Thursday 9 January at 3.30am UK time.

Men’s 2024 champion Jannik Sinner is the favourite to take a second title in a row but he will face competition from 10-time winner Novak Djokovic and French Open and Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz.

Sinner will be the No 1 seed for his title defence at the 2025 Australian Open, while Germany’s Alexander Zverev is seeded No 2 ahead of Alcaraz. Novak Djokovic has been confirmed as the No 7 seed, meaning he will be keeping a keen eye on the draw to see what his potential route to the final will be

In the women’s tournament, Sabalenka is looking to make it three in a row after taking the 2023 and 2024 titles at Melbourne Park and she will be challenged by world No 2 Iga Swiatek and the always dangerous Coco Gauff.

Sabalenka is top seed in the women’s draw followed by Poland’s Swiatek and USA’s Gauff. It means Gauff will face a potential semi-final against the one of the top two seeds if all three progress.
