Novak Djokovic is set to make himself available for Davis Cup selection this season to ensure he remains eligible to enter the tennis events at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Djokovic is known to covet Olympic gold as the final piece of his incredible collection of honours.

It is a requirement to enter the Olympics that men’s players compete in the Davis Cup, while WTA professionals must take part in their nations Billie Jean King Cup team.

The fate of Russian and Belarussian players at the event remains up in the air with their players unable to compete in team events from which both nations have been formally suspended.

The teams have been announced for the 2023 Davis Cup Finals Group Stage next month with Djokovic leading a strong Serbian team.

Serbia face a massive challenge though as they face Spain in Valencia with Carlos Alcaraz named to lead the Spanish efforts.

Djokovic and company will open their group stage efforts against South Korea.

South Korea are yet to name their team for the next group stage in September.

Alongside Alcaraz in the Spanish team will be Toronto Masters semi-finalist Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

Djokovic will be backed up by Laslo Djere, Miomir Kecmanovic, Dusan Lajovic and Hamad Medjedovic. Victor Troicki is the non-playing Davis Cup Captain for team Serbia.

Roberto Bautista Agut and Marcel Granollers round out the Spanish Davis Cup team.
