No player has won the Rio Open more than once, with 10 different champion emerging from the 10 editions of the tournament held to date.

The clay-court ATP 500 event, which is the biggest tournament of the South American Golden Swing, is staged Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Here are the 10 players who won the Rio Open between 2014 and 2024 (the event was not held in 2021).

Rafael Nadal – 2014

Rafael Nadal triumphed at the inaugural edition of the Rio Open in 2014, where he beat Daniel Gimeno Traver, Albert Montanes, Joao Sousa and Pablo Andujar en route to the final. The Spaniard saw off Alexandr Dolgopolov  in the title match.

David Ferrer – 2015

In 2015, David Ferrer became the second Spanish champion in Rio by defeating Gimeno Traver, Thiemo de Bakker, Juan Monaco, Andreas Haider-Maurer and Fabio Fognini.

Pablo Cuevas – 2016

Pablo Cuevas overcame Facundo Bagnis, Thiago Monteiro, Federico Delbonis, Nadal (in a hard-fought three-set semi-final) and Guido Pella to secure the 2016 Rio Open title.

Dominic Thiem – 2017

Dominic Thiem won the 2017 Rio Open without dropping a set in victories over Janko Tipsarevic, Dusan Lajovic, Diego Schwartzman, Albert Ramos Vinolas and Pablo Carreno Busta.

Diego Schwartzman – 2018

At the 2018 edition of the Rio Open, Diego Schwartzman won his second and biggest career title without losing a set as he beat Casper Ruud (via retirement), Delbonis, Gael Monfils, Nicolas Jarry and Fernando Verdasco.

Laslo Djere – 2019

Laslo Djere secured his maiden and biggest career title at the 2019 Rio Open, where he overcame Thiem, Taro Daniel and Ruud before receiving a semi-final walkover from Aljaz Bedene. The Serbian then prevailed over Felix Auger-Aliassime in the championship match to complete a run of straight-set wins.

Cristian Garin – 2020

Cristian Garin defeated Andrej Martin, Delbonis, Federico Coria, Borna Coric and Gianluca Mager en route to claiming the Rio Open trophy in 2020.

Carlos Alcaraz – 2022

In 2022, Carlos Alcaraz triumphed against Jaume Munar, Delbonis, Matteo Berrettini, Fognini and Schwartzman to secure the Rio Open crown.

Cameron Norrie – 2023

Alcaraz reached the Rio Open final again in 2023, but Cameron Norrie denied the Spaniard a second successive title. Norrie downed Juan Manuel Cerundolo, Monteiro, Hugo Dellien and Bernabe Zapata Miralles before he battled past Alcaraz in the title match.

Sebastian Baez – 2024

At the 2024 Rio Open, Sebastian Baez became the second Argentine to win the event as he overcame Corentin Moutet, Facundo Diaz Acosta, Monteiro, Francisco Cerundolo and Mariano Navone.
