The 5 women to win multiple Qatar Open titles: Iga Swiatek holds record, Maria Sharapova features

Iga Swiatek is the only woman to win the Qatar Open on three occasions, while four other players have secured multiple women’s singles titles in Doha.
There have been 16 different champions in the 22 previous editions of the WTA tournament, which was first held in 2001.
The Qatar Open, which is currently a WTA 1000 event, is staged on outdoor hard courts at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha.
Here, we look at the five women to win two or more singles title at the Qatar Open.
Anastasia Myskina – 2003, 2004
Anastasia Myskina defeated Mary Pierce, Dinara Safina, Patricia Wartusch and Elena Likhovtseva to win the third edition of the WTA event in Doha in 2003.
In 2004, the Russian became the first woman to defend the Qatar Open title as she earned victories over Likhovtseva, Zheng Jie, Jennifer Capriati and Svetlana Kuznetsova.
Maria Sharapova – 2005, 2008
To win her maiden Qatar Open title in 2005, Maria Sharapova overcame Gisela Dulko, Marion Bartoli, Daniela Hantuchova and Alicia Molik.
The Russian triumphed in Doha when the event was held as a Tier I tournament (now WTA 1000) for the first time in 2008.
Sharapova beat Galina Voskoboeva, Tamarine Tanasugarn, Caroline Wozniacki, Agnieszka Radwanska and Vera Zvonareva during her second title run.
Victoria Azarenka – 2012, 2013
Victoria Azarenka lost only 18 games in dispatching Mona Barthel, Simona Halep, Yanina Wickmayer, Radwanska and Samantha Stosur en route to winning the 2012 Qatar Open in dominant fashion.
The Belarusian successfully defended her Doha crown in 2013 with wins over Romina Oprandi, Christina McHale, Sara Errani, Radwanska and Serena Williams.

Petra Kvitova – 2018, 2021
Petra Kvitova is the only woman to win six matches en route to the Doha title, having downed Cagla Buyukakcay, Radwanska, Elina Svitolina, Julia Goerges, Wozniacki and Garbine Muguruza in 2018.
The Czech won the tournament for the second time in 2021, when she triumphed over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Anett Kontaveit, Jessica Pegula and Muguruza.
Iga Swiatek – 2022, 2023, 2024
Iga Swiatek collected her first Qatar Open title at the 2022 edition of the event, beating Viktorija Golubic, Daria Kasatkina, Aryna Sabalenka, Maria Sakkari and Kontaveit.
In 2023, the Pole defended her crown after remarkably dropping just five games in her wins over Danielle Collins, Veronica Kudermetova and Pegula, having also received a quarter-final walkover from Belinda Bencic.
Swiatek made it a hattrick of Doha titles in 2024 by defeating Sorana Cirstea, Ekaterina Alexandrova, Azarenka and Elena Rybakina. She was also given a walkover by Karolina Pliskova in the semi-finals.
