The ATP stars with the best clay win rates in a season: Nadal’s 100% records, Muster’s crazy 65-2 campaign

Rafael Nadal and Bjorn Borg have both finished seasons with unbeaten records on clay, while Thomas Muster put together a relentless and unique campaign on the surface.
Here are the five highest ATP clay-court win rates registered in a single season (minimum of 20 matches played).
5. Rafael Nadal – 31-1 (96.9%) in 2007
Nadal compiled a 31-1 record on clay in 2007, having beaten seven players ranked in the top 10 at the time.
The Spaniard won the Monte Carlo Masters, the Barcelona Open, the Italian Open, the French Open and the Stuttgart Open. His only clay-court loss was against Roger Federer in the Hamburg Masters final.
4. Thomas Muster – 65-2 (97%) in 1995
Thomas Muster accumulated a 97% win rate over the astonishing tally of 67 matches he played across 14 clay-court tournaments in 1995.
The Austrian secured 11 clay titles: Mexico City, Estoril, Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Rome, the French Open, St. Polten, Stuttgart, San Marino, Umag and Bucharest.
His only defeats were against Alex Corretja in Gstaad and Albert Costa in Kitzbuhel , while he withdrew from Amsterdam after winning his first match. Eight of Muster’s wins came against top 10 opponents.

3. Rafael Nadal – 22-0 (100%) in 2010
In 2010, Nadal won all 22 of the matches he played on clay, remarkably dropping just two sets in the process. He earned two victories over top 10 players.
The Mallorcan made history by becoming the only player to win the Masters events in Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome in the same season, before sealing a staggering run with victory at Roland Garros.
2. Bjorn Borg – 25-0 (100%) in 1978
Bjorn Borg was unbeaten in the 25 matches he played on clay in 1978, with eight of his wins coming against top-10 ranked opponents.
The Swede won four clay tournaments: The Pepsi Grand Slam in Boca Raton, the Italian Open, the French Open, and the Swedish Open.
He also won five matches across Davis Cup ties against Yugoslavia, Spain and Hungary.
1. Rafael Nadal – 26-0 (100%) in 2006
In 2006, Nadal amassed a perfect record from the 26 clay-court matches he played across four tournaments and a Davis Cup tie in what is statistically the best-ever ATP campaign on clay.
The Spaniard dominated the European clay swing, claiming titles in Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Rome and at the French Open. He then won the two matches he played on clay in Spain’s Davis Cup playoff against Italy in September.
Seven of Nadal’s clay wins were against top 10 players, including victories against world No 1 Federer in the finals in Monte Carlo, Rome and Roland Garros.
