9) Jannik Sinner, 2024 – 73-6 (92.4%)
Sinner’s 2024 ranks him ninth in Open Era win percentage in the men’s game, having won 92.4% of his matches this year.
The Italian lost just six times in 2024 – with three of those losses to one opponent, Carlos Alcaraz – while winning 73 matches, and eight titles.
His win percentage is the highest in almost a decade and the fifth highest of the 21st century.

Czech great Lendl had five seasons with a win rate of over 90%, though his most successful year in that regard was 1986 – during the absolute peak of his powers.
The former world No 1 won 74 out of 80 matches and went 20-1 in Grand Slams, winning the French Open and US Open while finishing as the runner-up at Wimbledon.
Lendl won nine titles from 15 tournaments in 1986, and his win percentage of 92.5% ranks his season joint seventh in the Open Era.

The first of three Federer appearances on this list, 2004 was the Swiss’ first truly dominant year on the ATP Tour – matching Lendl with a 74-6 record.
Federer won his first Australian Open and US Open titles, alongside successfully defending his Wimbledon crown and winning 11 out of 17 tournaments played.
With a 92.5% win percentage, this ranks joint seventh in the Open Era.
6) Novak Djokovic, 2015 – 82-6 (93.2%)
2015 is widely recognised as Djokovic’s best season and his win percentage of 93.2% ranks this season sixth in the Open Era, and No 1 in his individual standings.
The Serbian won 82 of 88 matches in 2015 and went 27-1 at Grand Slam level, losing the French Open final but triumphing at the three other majors.
Overall, Djokovic won 11 titles from 15 tournaments in 2015 – the most titles he won in a season.

5) Bjorn Borg, 1979 – 84-6 (93.3%)
The dominant force of the late 1970s, ‘Iceman’ Borg won 84 matches and tasted defeat just six times in 1979 – arguably the greatest year of his legendary career.
The Swede won 13 titles that season, including at Roland Garros and SW19, and reached a further final – while finishing the year as the world No 1.
His win percentage of 93.3% ranks his 1979 season fifth in terms of Open Era win percentage in the men’s game.
4) Roger Federer, 2006 – 92-5 (94.8%)
Federer won 12 titles in 2006, the most he ever won in an individual season, and he lost just five matches across the entire year.
Of his 92 match wins, 27 came at the majors, winning three of the four Slams while tasting defeat in what was his first French Open.
Federer won 94.8% of his 2006 matches, the fourth highest of the Open Era – but not his best result.
3) Roger Federer, 2005 – 81-4 (95.3%)
The highest win percentage of the 21st century, Federer won a staggering 95.3% of his matches in 2005 – holding an 81-4 win-loss record.
The 20-time Grand Slam champion triumphed at Wimbledon and the US Open and won 11 titles in total, failing to reach the final in only four of his 15 tournaments.
Federer’s tennis in 2005 is considered among the best he ever produced, and it is easy to see why.
2) Jimmy Connors, 1974 – 95-4 (96%)
Connors’ breakthrough 1974 season is among the greatest of the Open Era, with the American holding a perfect 20-0 record at the Grand Slams.
The tennis icon did not play at Roland Garros but won the other three majors and won 15 ATP titles in total, among the highest-ever individual hauls for a season.
With a 95-4 record for the year, Connors achieved a win percentage of 96% – the second-best by a man in the Open Era.
1) John McEnroe, 1984 – 82-3 (96.5%)
Undoubtedly the greatest season of McEnroe’s career, the US star’s 1984 is also among the greatest seasons ever produced by a male player.
McEnroe lost just three times in 85 matches across 1984 and won the Wimbledon and US Open titles for the final time, alongside reaching his sole French Open final.
With 13 titles to his name across the year, his win percentage of 96.5% is a record unlikely to ever be broken.
