7 incredible Iga Swiatek statistics after she destroyed Belinda Bencic at Wimbledon
Iga Swiatek advanced to her first-ever Wimbledon final in style as she delivered a devastating performance to crush Belinda Bencic.
The world No 4 dismantled 35th-ranked Bencic 6-2, 6-0 in an hour and 12 minutes to continue her sensational grass-court form.
Swiatek broke the 28-year-old Swiss five times and saved the two break points she faced in the match.
The Pole landed 69% of her first serves and won 84% of points behind her first serve, while she won 56% of her total return points.
The five-time Grand Slam champion recorded an impressive winner to unforced error ratio of 26 to 13.
“Honestly, I never even dreamed that it was going to be possible for me to play in the final, so I’m just super excited and just proud of myself,” reacted Swiatek in her on-court interview.
“Tennis keeps surprising me, I thought I lived through everything even though I’m young. I thought I’d experienced everything on the court. I didn’t experience playing well on grass so that’s the first time and I’m super excited and enjoying it.
“Every point is different and every match I need to adjust my game, but for sure I feel like I improved my movement and I’m serving really well and I feel really confident, so I’m just going for it and it’s working so I will keep doing that.”

Amanda Anisimova achieves amazing Grand Slam feat with epic Aryna Sabalenka Wimbledon win
The former world No 1 also looked ahead to her showdown with world No 12 Amanda Anisimova in the Wimbledon final.
“I don’t think I’ve played Amanda on the WTA, we played in juniors and I mean she can play amazing tennis and she loves fast surfaces because she has a flat game and fast,” said the 24-year-old.
“I will have to be ready for fast shots for her being proactive, but I’m just going to focus on myself and prepare tactically tomorrow because as I said, we know each other from juniors, I know how she plays, but we’ve never played a match.”
Here are seven outstanding statistics after Swiatek reached her first Wimbledon final.
- The second set against Bencic was the 30th set Swiatek has won 6-0 in a Grand Slam match and her 105th ‘bagel’ set overall.
- By making her first final at the grass-court major, Swiatek has become the only active WTA player to reach Grand Slam finals on all three surfaces.
- At the age of 24 years 30 days, Swiatek is the youngest woman to reach major finals on all three surfaces since tennis legend Justine Henin in 2003.
- There are only three players who have reached Grand Slam finals on the three different surfaces in fewer major appearances than Swiatek — who is playing her 26th Slam. Serena Williams accomplished the feat at her 16th major, while it took Henin 17 appearances and Venus Williams 20 appearances.
- Swiatek has improved her Grand Slam match win rate to 83.2% (99-20), which moves her up to 10th among all women in the Open Era in this category.
- Only Billie Jean King and Venus Williams have dropped fewer games in a Wimbledon women’s singles semi-final than Swiatek, having lost just one game each in 1969 and 2009 respectively.
- Swiatek is through to her 28th WTA Tour level final. Both of the finals she has reached since winning her last title — at the 2024 French Open in June last year — have been on grass.
Swiatek will look to maintain her 100% record in Grand Slam finals after winning her first five: four at the French Open and one at the US Open.
