Jannik Sinner matches sensational Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer feat and also ends 38-year wait at ATP Finals
Jannik Sinner’s 2024 ATP Finals victory saw him emulate an incredible hard-court feat that only Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic had previously achieved.
The world No 1 prevailed 6-4, 6-4 against Taylor Fritz in the ATP Finals championship match on Sunday to complete a dominant title run. Sinner is the first Italian to win the season-ending championships.
In his five matches in Turin, Sinner did not drop a set or lose more than four games in the 10 sets he played, while he dropped just 33 games in total. Sinner is the first player to win the ATP Finals without losing a set since Ivan Lendl in 1986.
Asked whether he played his best tennis of the 2024 season in Turin, Sinner said: “Yeah, for sure it was a very high-quality week, starting from the beginning, trying to understand the pace of the court, which then increased a little bit, which is normal because it was a bit more consumed.
“I just tried to play the best possible tennis I could in every single moment, which I’ve done here. The crowd helped me a lot. It was for sure one of the most special weeks I’ve had in a tennis court. Yeah, I’m very happy to have this trophy.”

Jannik Sinner makes ‘surprise’ confession after sensational ATP Finals win
The Italian, who will play the last event of the year at this week’s Davis Cup Finals in Malaga, will finish an outstanding 2024 season with eight titles from the nine finals he contested. This takes the 23-year-old’s career title haul to 18.
Seven of Sinner’s titles this year were on hard courts, while the other came on grass at the ATP 500 event in Halle.
As well as the ATP Finals, Sinner won hard-court titles at the Australian Open, the Rotterdam Open, the Indian Wells Masters, the Cincinnati Masters, the US Open and the Shanghai Masters.
Sinner is just the third player to win the Australian Open, the US Open and the ATP Finals in the same season.
Federer became the first player to accomplish this stunning hard-court treble in 2004, while he also did it in 2006 and 2007.
Djokovic is the only other man to win all three of the biggest hard-court tournaments in a year, having done so in 2015 and 2023.
