Jannik Sinner emulates Djokovic, Nadal & Federer feats as he makes Australian Open statement

Jannik Sinner has achieved more impressive statistical feats with his statement win over Alex de Minaur at the 2025 Australian Open.
The defending champion dismantled the world No 8 and Australian home favourite 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 with a stunning display on Rod Laver Arena.
The world No 1 broke de Minaur six times and saved the single break point he faced as he won 84% of points on his first serve and 81% behind his second delivery.
Sinner has improved his record against de Minaur to 10-0, having lost just one set across all his encounters with the 25-year-old Aussie.
Asked by Jim Courier if he was surprised by how well he played and how quickly the match went, Sinner said: “Yes, I feel like today I was feeling everything.
“Days like this, when you break quite early in each set, it’s a little bit easier. But he’s a very tough competitor, he’s an amazing player.
“(To the crowd) I know so many guys came for him tonight, but thank you so much for being so fair, it was an amazing atmosphere, so thank you so much.

Novak Djokovic’s stance on injury faking accusations is clear after John McEnroe conspiracy theory
“You know, we know each other quite well now, we played last year so many times and we try to understand each other’s game and try to prepare in the best possible way.
“These kind of matches, they can go quickly, but also they can go change very fast if I go down with the level a little bit, if he takes opportunities, so I’m very happy about performance.”
At the age of 23 years and 159 days, Sinner — who won his maiden major at last year’s Australian Open — has become the youngest man to reach consecutive semi-finals at Melbourne Park since Rafael Nadal in 2008 and 2009.
The Italian has improved his record at the Australian Open to a stellar 20-4, which sees him equal the record set by Roger Federer and Nadal for the fewest matches taken to reach 20 wins at the event since 2000.
Sinner has also become just the second male player in the Open Era after Novak Djokovic to win their first 16 matches against opponents at their home Grand Slam tournament.
The two-time major winner looked ahead to his semi-final showdown with world No 20 Ben Shelton, against whom he holds a 4-1 record.
“We played last year, some very tough matches,” Sinner said in his on-court interview. “Obviously he is one of the best servers on tour, leftie you know, different rotation of the ball is coming.
“So hopefully I’m ready, hopefully I can return as many serves as possible and then trying to stay very concentrated about my game like today, trying to stay aggressive, and then we’ll see.”
