Jannik Sinner enjoyed one of the best seasons on the ATP Tour in recent history, but how does the Italian’s 2024 campaign stack up against the best-ever seasons from the Big Three of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic?
The world No 1 was the leader in just about most metrics in 2024 as he won the most titles, won the most matches and had a 92.4% winning percentage.
So how does it compare to Federer’s 2006 season, Nadal’s 2010 campaign and Djokovic’s all-conquering 2016 year?
Roger Federer – 2006
Roger Federer enjoyed four consecutive years where he won more than 70 matches in a season, but the 2006 campaign was his best.
After going 78–17 in 2003, 74–6 in 2004 and 81–4 in 2005, Federer broke the 90-match win mark in 2006 as he finished the year with a 92-5 record for a 95% win-loss percentage.
The Swiss entered 17 tournaments in 2006 and, incredibly, reached the final in 16 of those events, winning 12 titles.
Federer won three Grand Slams as he lifted trophies at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open while he also won the ATP Finals.
He won four ATP Masters titles (Indian Wells, Miami, Canada, Madrid) while his other four titles came in Tokyo, Doha, Halle and Basel. There were also runners-up finishes at Roland Garros, Monte Carlo, Rome and Dubai.
The Cincinnati Open was the only tournament where he didn’t reach the final as he lost in the second round against Andy Murray.

Rafael Nadal – 2010
Four years after Federer’s brilliant season, Rafael Nadal also produced a trophy-laden campaign as he went 71–10 (88%) in 2010.
The Spaniard won the French Open, Wimbledon and US Open while he finished runner-up at the ATP Finals and lost in the quarter-final of the Australian Open.
Nadal also played 17 tournaments, reached nine finals and won seven trophies as he also won titles at Monte Carlo, Rome, Madrid and Tokyo.
He had a 100% record on clay (22-0) and lost one match on grass (9-1).

Novak Djokovic – 2015
Novak Djokovic had an 84% (82–6) win-loss record during the 2015 season as he reached the final in 15 of the 16 tournaments he entered.
The Serbian lifted trophies at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open, and also won the ATP Finals. He only missed out on a calendar Slam after being beaten by Stan Wawrinka in the French Open final.
His other titles came at Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Rome, Shanghai, Paris and Beijing while there were also runners-up finishes in Canada, Cincinnati and Dubai.
