The first ATP 500 tournaments of the season are set to get underway in Rotterdam and Dallas, but who has won the most titles at this level of tournament?

Five men have reached double figures for ATP 500 titles, while just two have won more than 20.

Here, we look at the five players who have won the most ATP 500 titles since the category of tournament was introduced in 1990.

5. David Ferrer – 10

David Ferrer secured 10 titles from the 19 finals he reached at ATP 500 level tournaments.

The Spaniard overcame Jose Acasuso to win his maiden ATP 500 title at the 2006 Stuttgart Open, while he downed Steve Johnson to claim his last at the 2015 Vienna Open.

Ferrer won his 500 titles at six different tournaments: Acapulco (four titles), Valencia (two titles), Stuttgart, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Vienna (one title at each).

4. Pete Sampras – 12

Pete Sampras claimed 12 titles from the 13 championship matches he contested at ATP 500 category events.

The American beat Andres Gomez to win his first-ever ATP title at the 1990 US Pro Indoor in Philadelphia, which was a 500 level event. He defeated Karol Kucera for his last 500 title at the 1998 Vienna Open.

The American’s ATP 500 titles came at five different tournaments: Philadelphia (four titles), Indianapolis (three titles), Tokyo (three titles), Memphis and Vienna (one title at each).

3. Novak Djokovic – 15

Novak Djokovic has won 15 ATP 500 tournaments in his career to date from the 18 finals he has reached.

The Serbian overcame Stan Wawrinka to win his maiden 500 title at the 2007 Vienna Open and saw off Stefanos Tsitsipas to win his most recent at the 2022 Astana Open.

Djokovic has won his ATP 500 titles at six different events: Beijing (six titles), Dubai (five titles), Vienna, Basel, Tokyo and Astana (one title at each).

2. Rafael Nadal – 23

Rafael Nadal collected 23 ATP 500 titles from the 29 finals he contested at this level of event.

The Spaniard won both his first and final ATP 500 level titles at the Mexican Open, where he beat Albert Montanes in the 2005 final and Cameron Norrie in the 2022 final.

Nadal’s ATP 500 titles came at eight different tournaments: Barcelona (12 titles), Acapulco (four titles), Stuttgart (two titles), Dubai, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, Hamburg and Beijing (one title at each).

1. Roger Federer – 24

Roger Federer has won more ATP 500 titles than any other player, having amassed a 24-7 record in finals at this category of event.

The Swiss defeated Jiri Novak to secure his maiden title at 500 level at the 2002 Vienna Open, while he claimed his last-ever career title at a 500 tournament — the 2019 Swiss Indoors — beating Alex de Minaur in the final.

Federer’s ATP 500 triumphs came at six different events: Dubai (eight titles), Basel (seven titles), Rotterdam (three titles), Halle (three titles), Vienna (two titles) and Tokyo (one title).
