The 3 men with the most Olympic quarter-finals as Novak Djokovic stands alone with impressive feat

For Novak Djokovic, history is on the line in virtually every match he plays as he continues to break, equal and extend tennis records.
The legendary Serb has reached another milestone at the 2024 Paris Olympics by becoming the first player to reach the quarter-finals of the Games on four occasions.
Here, we look at the three men who have reached the quarter-finals at the Olympic Games three or more times since tennis was reintroduced as an official sport in 1988.
=2. Kei Nishikori – 3
Kei Nishikori made his Olympic debut at the 2008 Games in Beijing and was beaten by Rainer Schuttler the opening round.
The Japanese reached the quarter-finals at the 2012 London Olympics after victories over Bernard Tomic, Nikolay Davydenko and David Ferrer, before falling to Juan Martin del Potro.
At the 2016 Rio Olympics, Nishikori earned wins against Albert Ramos Vinolas, John Millman, Andrej Martin and Gael Monfils to reach the semi-finals, where he was beaten by Andy Murray. In the bronze medal match, Nishikori downed Rafael Nadal.
Nishikori defeated Andrey Rublev, Marcos Giron and Ilya Ivashka en route to the last eight of the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, before he lost to Novak Djokovic.
The former world No 4 made his fifth Olympic appearance at the 2024 Paris Games and was beaten by Jack Draper in the first round.

=2. Roger Federer – 3
Roger Federer reached the semi-finals on his first Olympic appearance in Sydney in 2000 after wins over David Prinosil, Karol Kucera, Mikael Tillstrom and Karim Alami. He fell to Tommy Haas in the last four, before losing to Arnaud Di Pasquale in the bronze medal match.
At the 2004 Games in Athens, Federer suffered a second round upset at the hands of a 74th-ranked Tomas Berdych.
The Swiss progressed to the last eight of the 2008 Beijing Olympics with victories against Dmitry Tursunov, Rafael Arevalo and Berdych, before falling to James Blake.
At the 2012 London Olympics, Federer achieved his best singles result on his fourth and final Games appearance as he secured a silver medal.
Federer defeated Alejandro Falla, Julien Benneteau, Denis Istomin, John Isner and Juan Martin del Potro to reach the gold medal match, where he was convincingly beaten by Andy Murray.
1. Novak Djokovic – 4
Djokovic competed at the Olympics for the first time at the 2008 Beijing Games and advanced to the semi-finals after wins over Robby Ginepri, Rainer Schuttler, Mikhail Youzhny and Gael Monfils.
The Serbian fell to Rafael Nadal in three sets in the last four, before he saw off James Blake in the bronze medal match to claim the only medal of his career to date.
Four years later, Djokovic defeated Fabio Fognini, Andy Roddick, Lleyton Hewitt and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to reach the semi-finals in London. He was denied by Andy Murray in the last four and then lost to Juan Martin del Potro in the bronze medal match.
At the 2016 Rio Olympics, Djokovic was thwarted by del Potro again when he fell to the 2009 US Open champion in the opening round.
Djokovic made it to the semi-finals of the Olympics for the third time at the Tokyo Games in 2021 by beating Hugo Dellien, Jan-Lennard Struff, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Nishikori. He was stopped by Alexander Zverev in the last four, before losing to Pablo Carreno Busta in the bronze medal match.
The 37-year-old overcame Matthew Ebden, Nadal and Dominik Koepfer to progress to the last eight at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
