The 10 men with most ATP Finals titles: Novak Djokovic with 7, Roger Federer 2nd
The 2024 ATP Finals field is set and action in Turin is just days away.
Only two former champions are competing this year and several of the field are targeting their first tournament title, though several ATP greats have found huge success at the year-end championships.
We countdown the 10 players with the most ATP Finals titles.
=8) Alexander Zverev – Two titles (2018, 2021)
World No 2 Zverev is targeting a third ATP Finals triumph in 2024, having previously won the year-end championships in 2018 and 2021.
The German was a surprise champion in London six years ago, shocking both Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic on his way to the title.
Three years later he captured the title in the inaugural Turin edition of the event, beating reigning champion Daniil Medvedev in straight sets.
=8) Lleyton Hewitt – Two titles (2001-02)
One of just a handful of players to win back-to-back titles, former world No 1 Hewitt secured consecutive victories in 2001 and 2002.
The Australian was a champion on home soil in Sydney in 2001, rising to the top of the ATP Rankings after beating Sebastien Grosjean in the final.
Twelve months later he successfully defended his crown in Shanghai, battling past Juan Carlos Ferrero in a five-set epic.
=8) Bjorn Borg – Two titles (1979-80)
Tennis icon Borg was twice victorious at the year-end championships, triumphing in both 1979 and 1980.
The Swede cruised to his first title in 1979, breezing past Vitas Gerulaitis for the loss of just four games in the final.
Borg made it back-to-back titles in 1980, defeating future tennis great Ivan Lendl in straight sets.
=6) Boris Becker – Three titles (1988, 1992, 1995)
One of the most successful players in ATP Finals history, six-time Grand Slam champion Becker with a three-time winner at the tournament.
After two previous final losses, the German battled past Lendl in a legendary five-set final to lift the title for the first time in 1988.
Competing on home soil in Frankfurt, Becker downed Jim Courier to win his second title in 1992, before defeating Michael Chang in 1995.
=6) John McEnroe – Three titles (1978, 1983-84)
McEnroe won a record seven ATP Finals doubles titles but was impressively also a three-time champion in the singles event.
The American was still a teenager when he won for the first time in 1978, beating compatriot Arthur Ashe in straight sets in New York.
McEnroe would then claim back-to-back titles in 1983 and 1984, overcoming key rival Lendl in both finals.

5) Ilie Nastase – Four titles (1971-73, 1975)
An early great of the ATP era, Nastase won four of the first six editions of the year-end championships across the 1970s.
The Romanian beat Stan Smith to the title in the round-robin format in 1971 and then beat his American rival again in the 1972 final.
Nastase beat Tom Okker to win a third straight title in 1973, before reclaiming the title for a fourth and final time with victory over Borg in 1975.
=3) Pete Sampras – Five titles (1991, 1994, 1996-97, 99)
The dominant force of the men’s game in the 1990s, ‘Pistol Pete’ claimed five ATP Finals victories across the most successful decade of his career.
Sampras beat compatriot Courier to win his maiden title in 1991 and then beat Becker in both 1994 and 1996 for his second and third titles.
The 14-time major champion successfully defended his title in 1997 with a victory over Yevgeny Kafelnikov, before beating longtime rival Andre Agassi to seal his final triumph in 1999.
=3) Ivan Lendl – Five titles (1981-82, 1985-87)
Former world No 1 Lendl reached nine straight finals at the year-end championships in the 1980s – and was victorious five times.
The Czech sealed consecutive titles in 1981 and 1982, beating American stars Gerulaitis and McEnroe to triumph.
After two final losses, Lendl defeated Becker in back-to-back finals in 1985 and 1986 before overcoming Mats Wilander in 1987.
2) Roger Federer – Six titles (2003-04, 2006-07, 2010-11)
Federer previously held the record for most titles at the tournament, with his six victories a record until last year.
The Swiss beat Agassi to win the 2003 year-end championships and successfully defended his crown with a victory over Hewitt in 2004.
The former world No 1 was beaten in the 2005 final but defeated James Blake for a third title in 2006, and saw off David Ferrer in 2007.
Federer’s final two titles came in London in 2010 and 2011, beating Rafael Nadal and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga respectively.
1) Novak Djokovic – Seven titles (2008, 2012-15, 2022-23)
Djokovic will not be in action this season, but his haul of seven ATP Finals titles is unlikely to be broken anytime soon.
The Serbian defeated Nikolay Davydenko to win the title for the first time in 2008 and defeated Federer to win the event for a second time in 2012.
That started a run of four straight victories for Djokovic, who beat Nadal in 2013, received a walkover from Federer in 2014, and then beat the Swiss in the 2015 final.
Djokovic recaptured his crown with victory over Casper Ruud in 2022, before breaking the record with a triumph over Jannik Sinner in the 2023 final.
