Here, we look at the five players who have featured in five or more men’s singles finals at the Australian Open in the Open Era.

Andy Murray was a five-time runner-up from his 16 campaigns at the Australian Open.
The three-time major winner made his debut at Melbourne Park in 2006 and reached his first final in 2010, when he was beaten by Roger Federer.
The Brit fell to Novak Djokovic in the last Australian Open final he played in 2016, while he played his last-ever match at the event in 2024.

Stefan Edberg was a five-time finalist at the Australian Open and claimed two titles from his 13 appearances at the tournament.
The six-time Grand Slam champion played the Australian Open for the first time in 1983 and advanced to his maiden final in 1985 — beating Mats Wilander.
The Swede lost to Jim Courier in his final Australian Open title match in 1993 and played the event for the last time in 1996.

Rafael Nadal secured two titles from the six finals he reached at the Australian Open across his 18 campaigns at the event.
The 22-time Grand Slam winner made his debut at the Australian Open in 2004 and defeated Roger Federer in the first title match he played in 2008.
The Spaniard edged out Daniil Medvedev in his last final at Melbourne Park in 2022, while he played his last-ever match at the hard-court major in 2023.
2. Roger Federer – 7
Roger Federer amassed a 6-1 record from the seven finals he contested in his 21 appearances at the Australian Open.
The 20-time major champion played the Melbourne Grand Slam for the first time in 2000 and reached his first championship match in 2004, when he downed Marat Safin.
The Swiss overcame Marin Cilic in his last Australian Open final in 2018, while he played the tournament for the final time in 2020.

Novak Djokovic won all 10 of the championship matches he reached across his 19 previous appearances at the Australian Open.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion made his Australian Open debut in 2005 and reached his maiden final in 2008, defeating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
The Serbian saw off Stefanos Tsitsipas in his most recent title match at Melbourne Park in 2023.
