Novak Djokovic holds the record for the most weeks ranked in the top three of the ATP Rankings, while his great rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal complete the top three.

The Serbian also holds the records for the most weeks as world No 1 (428) and world No 2 (599).

Six men have been ranked in the top three of the world rankings for over 400 weeks, while nine have reached the 300-mark.

Here, we look at the 10 players who have spent the most weeks ranked in the top three of the ATP Rankings since the system was introduced in 1973.

10. Andre Agassi – 264

Andre Agassi spent 264 weeks of his career as a top three player in the ATP Rankings after he reached world No 3 for the first time in November 1988.

The American’s last week ranked inside the top three came in September 2003.

9. Bjorn Borg – 324

Bjorn Borg amassed 324 weeks in the top three of the world rankings, having broken into the top three for the first time in December 1974.

The Swede’s final week in the top three was in November 1991.

8. Stefan Edberg – 342

Stefan Edberg was ranked in the top three of the ATP Rankings for 342 weeks, having reached world No 3 for the first time in September 1986. The last week in which the Swede was ranked in the top three came in July 1994.

7. John McEnroe – 374

John McEnroe was a top three player in the world for 374 weeks of his career after he climbed to third spot for the first time in April 1979. The American spent his final week in the top three in May 1986.

6. Pete Sampras – 457

Pete Sampras spent 457 weeks in the top three of the world rankings, having first reached third position in February 1992. The last week in which the American was ranked in the top three came in March 2001.

5. Ivan Lendl – 499

Ivan Lendl amassed 499 weeks ranked inside the top three of the ATP Rankings after he made it to world No 3 for the first time in August 1981. The Czech-American’s final week in the top three came in September 1991.

4. Jimmy Connors – 592

Jimmy Connors was ranked in the top three of the world rankings for 592 weeks, having first climbed to third spot in October 1973. The last week the American spent in the top three was in June 1986.

3. Rafael Nadal – 686

Nadal has been a top three player in the world for 686 weeks of his career, having first reached third position in the rankings in June 2005. The Spaniard’s most recent week in the top three was in January 2023.

2. Roger Federer – 750

Federer occupied a place among the three best players in the ATP Rankings for 750 weeks, having first broken into the top three in July 2003. The Swiss’ final week in the top three was in February 2020.

1. Novak Djokovic – 756

Djokovic has spent 756 weeks ranked inside the top three of the rankings, having reached third spot for the first time in July 2007. After entering his 756th week in the top three on September 2 2024, Djokovic is set to exit the top three after the 2024 US Open.
