The 5 players to complete a career Golden Slam as Novak Djokovic joins Rafael Nadal on list
Only four tennis players have won all four Grand Slam titles and an Olympic gold medal in singles to complete a feat known as a career Golden Slam.
Novak Djokovic joined the list after adding the elusive gold medal to his incredible trophy collection at the 2024 Paris Olympics at Roland Garros.
Here, we look at the tennis legends to achieve a career Golden Slam in singles.
Steffi Graf
Steffi Graf became the first player to win all four Grand Slam titles and an Olympic gold when she claimed all five of the huge titles in a staggering season in 1988. She turned 19 in June of 1988 and had won her only Major prior to that year at the 1987 French Open.
In the 1988 Grand Slam finals, Graf defeated Chris Evert at the Australian Open, Natasha Zvereva at Roland Garros, Martina Navratilova at Wimbledon and Gabriela Sabatini at the US Open.
The German then overcame Sabatini again in a straight-set gold medal match at the Seoul Olympics, which was held after the four Majors, to add to her incredibly dominant campaign.
The 22-time Grand Slam winner remains the only player to achieve a Golden Slam in a calendar year.
Andre Agassi
Andre Agassi became the first man to complete a career Golden Slam when he claimed his only French Open title to finish the set in 1999.
The American won his maiden Major and only Wimbledon title in 1992 with a thrilling championship match victory against Goran Ivanisevic.
Agassi claimed his first US Open crown in 1994 as he downed Michael Stich in the final, before he saw off Pete Sampras to add a maiden Australian Open title on his tournament debut in 1995.
At the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, Agassi beat Sergi Bruguera in a straight-set gold medal match in his only Games appearance.
Agassi sealed a career Grand Slam and career Golden Slam at the 1999 French Open by coming from two sets down to defeat Andrei Medvedev to win his only Roland Garros title.

Rafael Nadal
Rafael Nadal is the youngest man to achieve a career Golden Slam, as well as a career Grand Slam, having completed the collection at the age of 24 in 2010.
The Spaniard claimed his first Major at the 2005 French Open with a victory over Mariano Puerta in the championship match.
Nadal won his first Grand Slam outside of Roland Garros at Wimbledon in 2008, where he overcame Roger Federer in an epic final.
The month after his Wimbledon win, Nadal secured the gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics after prevailing against Fernando Gonzalez in a straight-set final.
Nadal beat Federer for his first Australian Open crown in 2009, before downing Djokovic in the 2010 US Open title match for his maiden triumph at Flushing Meadows.
Serena Williams
Serena Williams was the last player to win all four Major titles and an Olympic gold medal in singles, having sealed the impressive feat in 2012.
To win her maiden title at each Grand Slam, Williams defeated Martina Hingis at the 1999 US Open, and her sister Venus Williams at the French Open and Wimbledon in 2002, as well as the 2003 Australian Open.
After winning gold medals with sister Venus at the 2000 and 2008 Games, Williams secured her first Olympic singles title at the 2012 London Games to complete the career Golden Slam.
The American dismantled Maria Sharapova in the gold medal match for the loss of just a single game, and also won her third doubles gold in London.
Novak Djokovic
The latest entry on the list, 24-time Grand Slam winner Djokovic started the 2024 season as the favourite to win Olympic gold as he finished the 2023 season with three Grand Slams.
Having previously won bronze at the 2008 Beijing Games, Djokovic completed the career Golden Slam by winning the Paris Olympics without dropping a set.
The Serbian defeated Matthew Ebden, Rafael Nadal, Dominik Koepfer, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Lorenzo Musetti to reach the gold medal match.
He then outmuscled Carlos Alcaraz – the same man who beat him in the Wimbledon final a few weeks earlier – 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-2) to win gold.
