Grass-court tennis is underway in 2025, and the biggest stars of the ATP Tour are in action.

However, the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner may need some time to record as many grass-court wins as previous legends of the game.

We look at the 15 men to seal the most grass-court match wins in the Open Era.

Behind the stats

The majority of the players towards the top of this countdown retired several decades ago, with only a small handful of 21st-century players inside the top 15.

That is because of the greater prevalence of grass-court tennis back in the early years of the Open Era, with more tournaments held on the surface throughout the year.

The Australian Open was held on grass until 1987, and even the US Open was held on grass until 1974, part of the reason why many leading players on this list are from the 1970s.

Who ranks highly?

A total of 15 men have recorded at least 116 wins on grass courts, starting with tennis icon and Wimbledon great Boris Becker, who sits in 15th place on that total.

Just ahead of him is former world No 4 Roscoe Tanner and then fellow Wimbledon champions Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic, with seven-time SW19 winner Djokovic currently 12th on 120 wins.

Narrowly in front of him is former world No 1 John McEnroe in 11th, with Arthur Ashe and Lleyton Hewitt among those inside the top 10.
