The 4 active men’s players to reach the semi-finals at all Grand Slams as Jannik Sinner beats Carlos Alcaraz to feat
Jannik Sinner has added several more achievements to his record after reaching the 2024 US Open semi-final with a solid win over Daniil Medvedev.
The world No 1 defeated former Flushing Meadows champion Medvedev 6-2, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 to reach his third Grand Slam semi-final of the season.
After starting the 2024 season by winning his maiden major, the Australian Open at Melbourne Park, Sinner backed it up with a run to the French Open semi-final and now the US Open last four. He lost in the quarter-final at Wimbledon this year, but he reached the last four at the grass-court major in 2023.
With his latest win, Sinner – who has a 53-5 win-loss record so far this season – has become the first Italian, man or woman, to reach at least three Grand Slam semi-finals in a season in the Open Era.
The 23-year-old, who faces Jack Draper for a place in Sunday’s final, is the third Italian man to reach the US Open semi-finals in the Open Era after Corrado Barazzutti in 1977 and Matteo Berrettini in 2019.
He is now also one of only four active players to reach the semi-final of all four Grand Slams and, interestingly, he has reached the achievement before Carlos Alcaraz.

Alcaraz is a four-time Grand Slam winner having won Wimbledon twice, the US Open and the French Open with the Australian Open the only tournament missing. His best performance at Melbourne Park was a run to the quarter-final, which he achieved this year.
Three Other Active Players
Novak Djokovic
Unsurprisingly, Novak Djokovic has reached the last four of all four majors on multiple occasions and he first completed the list of semi-finals at the 2008 Australian Open.
The 24-time Grand Slam winner has reached the Australian Open semi-final 11 times, French Open 12 times, Wimbledon 13 times and the US Open 13 times.
Rafael Nadal
The great Rafael Nadal also features as he joined the list back at the 2008 US Open. The Spaniard has reached the semi-final of the French Open 15 times, Wimbledon and the US Open eight times and the Australian Open seven times.
Marin Cilic
Marin Cilic has struggled with injury in recent years, but he has also made to the last four of every major with his run at Roland Garros in 2022 doing the trick. The Croatian has reached the semi-final of the Australian Open and US Open twice while he has only made it to the last four at Wimbledon and Roland Garros once each.
