Iga Swiatek is alive and well at the 2025 French Open – and her epic run is among the best in Roland Garros history.

Here, we look at the five women who have managed to claim 20+ straight French Open match wins in the Open Era.

5) Steffi Graf – 20

Only one woman in the Open Era can better tennis icon Graf’s haul of six French Open titles, so it comes as no surprise to see the German feature on this list.

The German lifted her first major title at the tournament in 1987, downing Martina Navratilova in the final, and then successfully defended her crown in 1988 with a 6-0, 6-0 thrashing of Natasha Zvereva.

Graf made it to a third straight final in 1989, extending her winning run to 20 at Roland Garros, before a shock defeat to a 17-year-old Arantxa Sanchez Vicario in the championship match.

4) Justine Henin – 24

Owner of one of the greatest-ever one-handed backhands, Henin reigned supreme over Roland Garros in the mid-2000s.

Henin was beaten in round two in 2004 but then dominated the event for the next three years, beating Mary Pierce in the 2005 final, Svetlana Kuznetsova in 2006, and Ana Ivanovic in 2008.

Returning to the tournament in 2010 after briefly coming out of retirement, the Belgian extended her run to 24 straight victories before losing to Sam Stosur in round four, her final ever match at the event.

=2) Monica Seles – 25

The youngest French Open champion in history, Seles was just 16 years and six months old when she triumphed in 1990, beating Graf in the final.

That started a run of three straight titles for the tennis icon, who beat Sanchez Vicario in the 1991 final and then battled past Graf in the 1992 final – perhaps the greatest women’s singles final of them all.

Returning to the event in 1996 after stabbing, Seles extended her run to 25 consecutive wins before a quarter-final loss to Jana Novotná ended her run.

=2) Iga Swiatek – 25

Swiatek now finds herself level with Seles on 25 straight wins, and will look to move outright second with a 26th straight win in her quarter-final versus Elina Svitolina on Tuesday.

After a defeat to Maria Sakkari in the 2021 quarter-finals, Swiatek regained her title in 2022 by beating Coco Gauff in the final, and then downed Karolina Muchova to defend her crown in 2023.

The Pole joined Seles and Henin in having won three straight titles with triumph in 2024, beating Jasmine Paolini in the championship match, and has so far won a further four matches in 2025.

1) Chris Evert – 29

Swiatek cannot break the all-time record in 2025, with tennis icon Evert’s haul of 29 consecutive wins just out of reach for now.

Evert was beaten in the 1973 final by Margaret Court but then downed Olga Morozova to claim her first Roland Garros title in 1974, and saw off Martina Navratilova to claim a second straight title in 1975.

The American skipped the event from 1976-78 but returned in 1979 and immediately regained her title with a victory over Wendy Turnbull in the final, and downed Virginia Ruzici in 1980 for the title.

Evert made it 29 straight wins with a run to the semi-final in 1981, before she was beaten by eventual champion Hana Mandlikova.
